If you’ve been notified that you’re entering the underwriting process, it means that our SimplyTerm team needs a little more information before we can finalize our decision regarding your life insurance application. As a part of the process, you will need to complete a medical exam, and depending on your situation, we may also ask for additional information to get a fuller picture of your health and personal history.

Complete a medical exam

As part of the underwriting process, you’ll need to complete a medical exam with the help of our medical partner, ExamOne. Your exam does not have to be completed by a doctor. The ExamOne team will call you to arrange the most convenient time and place (e.g., your home or workplace) for your medical exam and can answer any questions you may have about the process. At your appointment, the examiner will take your vital signs (including height, weight, and blood pressure) and may also collect blood, urine, and oral fluid. Once your information is collected and tested, ExamOne will send us your laboratory results for review.

For a more detailed overview of the medical exam process, you can read ExamOne’s prep checklist here  PDF Opens in a new window.

Footnote

*Please note, your status will remain “pending” until we receive your results, so you may still receive email/text reminders from us to schedule your appointment after you’ve completed your exam.

Sometimes our underwriting team might need to review your medical history. If this is the case, we’ll email you with instructions on how to easily share your medical records through our trusted partner, Human API. You’ll need to complete this task within 8 days of receiving our email.

If you’d rather not share your medical records via HumanAPI, we can contact your medical provider(s) directly for the information, but please note, this process can take up to three weeks.
