In keeping with our commitment to doing business the right way, Prudential Financial is focused on reducing our environmental impact. We believe that doing so benefits our clients, employees, and shareholders—and future generations.

Our programs for reducing energy consumption have already cut net greenhouse gas emissions at our major U.S. facilities by 33 percent since 1998. We plan to further reduce our emissions. We also have active recycling programs in our major facilities and are committed to using recycled paper products in materials such as our annual report. In addition, we continually evaluate the impact of climate change on our businesses.

Underscoring our commitment to the environment, Prudential is a signatory to the Business Roundtable's Climate Resolve initiative. We are also a major investor in alternative sources of energy, especially wind power. Our investments in this area help provide enough clean energy to power more than 450,000 homes in the United States.

Prudential also has a transit check program that encourages employees to use public transportation. In addition, we support environmental education initiatives and employees' environmental volunteer activities.

We are committed to building upon these activities through a continued focus on programs that reduce our environmental impact, improve the lives of people in the communities where we live and work, and encourage our employees to recycle and reduce energy consumption.
