We have also provided guidelines for identifying what The Prudential Foundation does not fund. Please review this information carefully before beginning the application process.

NON-DISCRIMINATION
Each year, The Prudential Foundation invests over $25 million in grants in efforts that support the revitalization of communities and support Prudential employees' community engagement efforts.
Education
- Education leadership to support reform in public education by increasing the capacity of educators, parents, and community residents to implement public school reform. The Prudential Foundation also funds organizations whose efforts influence policy that adapts promising practices and evidence-based approaches to instruction and learning in schools.
- Youth development to build skills and competencies needed for young people to be productive citizens. This includes expanding arts education opportunities and supporting effective out-of-school-time programs for young people.
Economic Development
- Workforce development programs to train and place individuals in high-demand occupations.
- Business development opportunities to create and grow businesses.
- Community revitalization initiatives to strengthen community development corporations (CDCs).
Arts & Civic Infrastructure
- Arts as an economic engine and as a quality-of-life issue to ensure that residents have access to quality arts programs.
- Capacity building activities for nonprofit organizations to ensure their sustainability and growth.

The Prudential Foundation focuses its efforts in the following locations:
- Newark, NJ; and Hartford, CT. The Foundation makes significant investments through a combination of local and national partners to improve education, promote economic development, support the arts, and build the capacity of nonprofit organizations. The Newark Community Building Fund is a special initiative that supports grassroots organizations working to improve their neighborhoods and the quality of life of Newark residents.
- Philadelphia, PA; New York, NY; Chicago, IL; and Los Angeles, CA. In these locations, the Foundation looks for opportunities to improve education and engage in economic development efforts.
- Other cities. Dallas and Houston, TX; Dubuque, IA; Jacksonville, FL; Minneapolis, MN; Phoenix, AZ; and Scranton, PA. The Foundation focuses its efforts in education and/or economic development programs that provide opportunities for Prudential associates to be engaged.
- Special Project: New Orleans. The Foundation will continue its work in New Orleans focused on education and economic development in support of the rebuilding efforts.
- International. The Foundation is addressing local needs in other countries, including Brazil, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, and Taiwan.

- Labor, religious, political, lobbying, or fraternal groups—except when these groups provide needed services to the community at large
- Direct grants or scholarships to individuals; support for single-disease health groups

The Prudential Foundation supports nonprofit, charitable organizations and programs whose mission and operations are non-discriminatory. The Foundation focuses its resources to support organizations whose activities address social needs or benefit underserved groups and communities.
