Employee Engagement deploys the talents and business expertise of Prudential associates to address critical needs through volunteer service. It leads community involvement and employee volunteerism under the banner “Prudential CARES.”

Employee Engagement aligns associates’ volunteerism to complement the Foundation and Social Investments' strategies in education, economic development, and civic infrastructure in order to maximize impact. By engaging and supporting Prudential’s employees, Employee Engagement strengthens the company by helping employees develop business skills and increasing employee morale and satisfaction. Employee Engagement also consults with the business units to offer strategic guidance in developing and managing community relationships.

Signature Programs

Global Volunteer Day mobilizes companywide volunteerism around the world on the first Saturday of every October. Employee teams, their friends and family members participate in a variety of community service activities such as refurbishing a playground, painting a school or feeding the hungry. Each qualifying team in the U.S. receives a $1,000 grant from The Prudential Foundation for their nonprofit partner. Grants for employees outside of the U.S. are funded by Prudential.

The Hands for Service program provides grants to nonprofit organizations in recognition of the volunteer service provided to them by Prudential employees and retirees. These grants are made through The Prudential Foundation.

Community Volunteer Councils at Prudential sites around the globe are employee-driven groups that promote, encourage and create volunteer activities. They help to organize and implement several community outreach programs, including the Backpack Challenge and the Holiday Program.

The Backpack Challenge is held each summer throughout the U.S.  and in Letterkenny, Ireland, to benefit children in foster care. Employees and their family and friends fill backpacks with items children need to help them during a stressful period in their lives.

Skills for Service encourages employees to enhance their leadership skills by helping their favorite nonprofit organization develop and execute a special program. Employees may earn awards of $5,000 for their nonprofit organization.

Building Diverse Leadership is a board placement program that links members of Prudential’s management and executive teams with local nonprofit organizations that need their skills, time and talent. In return, board service gives employees personal and professional development opportunities.
