Supporting Veterans with Opportunity
Prudential's support for the military and Veterans dates back to
the founding of the company more than 135 years ago and
remains strong today.
In the spirit of Prudential's longstanding commitment to U.S. Veterans, active service members and Veterans already in our employ, Prudential has established several programs that provide access to quality education, job training, and employment opportunities. Prudential also seeks to advocate for Veterans among our corporate peers.
Prudential is committed to engaging our employees and hiring managers with insight and education about the challenges Veterans face and the value Veterans can bring to the workplace. The Prudential Military Veterans Network (VETnet), a Business Resource Group composed of Prudential employees, provides a vehicle for communication and for sharing common issues and offers an important channel of communication between Prudential and the Veterans' community at large.
VETalent, a partnership with Workforce Opportunities Services a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and a local university, prepares Veterans for new careers through a work-study program leading to a certification. We are actively engaged in efforts to expand this highly effective program. By collaborating with other Fortune 500 companies to share best practices and promote adoption of successful education and training models, we aspire to assure a better outcome for Veterans.
We are committed to supporting veterans service organizations through philanthropic grants, through employee volunteerism, and by matching qualifying contributions made by our employees. These programs align with our long-standing commitment to improving the communities where we live and work.
Our CGI Commitment to ActionIn 2011, the Clinton Global Initiative hosted an event to focus on U.S. economic recovery, where myriad organizations assembled to create short-term solutions and long-term strategies for growth. Prudential was invited to join a Veterans Working Group, which focused on strategies to lower unemployment among new veterans. Prudential committed to sponsoring several regional VETalent classes, an innovative program that prepares transitioning veterans for new careers.
